iRead- Dr. Chapman's 5 Love Languages
What’s your Love Language?
I read, The 5 Love Languages: The Secret to Love That Lasts by Dr. Gary Chapman and loved it!!! I suggest that everyone who is in relationship or plans to be in one reads this book. I feel that its beneficial in all relationships not just the relationship of lovers but also friends and parents and co-workers. Dr. Chapman’s theory is that everyone speaks a Love Language and order to give and receive love effectively one must know their LL as well as the LL of the other person in the relationship. There are 5 LL.
1. Word’s of Affirmation
2. Quality Time
3. Gifts
4. Acts of Service
5. Physical Touch
I won’t go into detail on each LL because I do want you all to read the book or at least putz around on the website www.5lovelanguages.com On the site there is a quiz to help you decipher which LL you speak. There are also different versions of the book (sort of like the Chicken Soup for the Soul Series). Its a quick read and not only will it allow you to have better relationships with other people, it allows you to see yourself in a different light.
Happy reading!!! And happy loving!!!

The Game Review or Lack There Of :-(
I'm a lot late in my reviews for these past few episodes and I'm sorrrry! I think it's because I was trying to find nice things to say about them... and each week I was unable to :-( And now there are only two episodes left and um... I still don't have much to say.. I was a HUGE fan and I couldn't WAIT for the new season to begin. I have to say I am not impressed (and I know I'm not the only one who feels this way). The story lines are... not good. Lol. I was going to try to be prolific but I just don't have it in me. BET has definitely changed The Game and the change is bad. I will be back to give a final recap and review as it is too draining to so it weekly... Smh.

Who are you living for? Pt 2
Watch this scene from Guess Who's Coming to Dinner. Sidney Poirtier's character introduced his parents to his fiance who is a white woman. It is 1967 and he is a doctor. Its a very good movie and this is one of my favorite scenes....
Who are you living for?
A friend of mine and fellow blogger published a very powerful post a fews days back that I want to share with you. The last paragraph prompted the title for this blog....
So what do you think? Who should you be living for? Thank you Courtleak for sharing this with us. Check out more from Courtleak here!

Words of Twisdom Tuesday =)
So in every situation you could possibly be put in... no matter how annoying and frustrating and even devastating... people are always telling people, "To be thankful for what you have because it could be worse". I have even muttered those words to myself and others, although I would say something like, "Everything happens for a reason", "There is a lesson to be learned from this" or "Its probably a blessing in disguise". But I am beginning to wonder if this "positive patty" programmed mind set

iRead- Janet Jackson's True You Book Review
I watched Janet Jackson's Dateline interview right before Super Bowl XLV and fell in love with her all over again. I have always been a Janet fan but something about the way she opened up to Meredith Vieira left me wanted to read more about her journey in hopes to get some guidance about my own.

AE Fitness-Don't DIE with a DIE-T (diet)
The Game Review...
So there is a less than an hour and a half before the third show of The Game is set to air. I realize my review if the second show is quite delayed but I still haven't gotten over my disappointment. I am NOT impressed. I feel like we have waited sooo long for this reunion and they are doing us soo dirty. I will wait and do an analysis after tonight's episode. Kinda like a twofer...
In other news I really like the show that comes on after The Game, Let's Stay Together. Kudos to Queen Latifah!!
I will be back tomorrow with an extensive review.

I love reality TV and families!! I enjoying seeing how people interact with each other. My favorite shows are the ones I listed below and find that sometimes I get emotional when I watch them.
You don't get to choose your family...
Photo from http://www.karagwe.com/index.php?page=100 |
Hilary Rodham Clinton wrote a book when she was the First Lady titled, "It Takes a Village to Raise a Child: And Other Lessons Children Teach Us". Although I never read the book the title always resonated within me; The thought of the village mostly. I am an only child and like the title of this blog... You don't get to choose your family.

The Game Review
Mesfin Fekadu reports on TheReflector.com that a whopping 7.7 million faithful fans watched the season premiere of The Game on BET. Whoa mama! So what did you all think?
I have to get used to their new style of filming. The Game has moved from Los Angeles to Atlanta and they are taped this season "guerilla" style. It seems less vibrant and totally unrehearsed. This style worked for shows like Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm (I am a fan of both) so I pray that it works for them. I am uber excited to be able to see where this storyline will take us...

- I must say I am not a fan of Tasha Mack and Terence... At all. But hey... I respect his hustle. I'm not sure if this will help his acting career or hurt it though. It seems like I'm not alone in feeling like Terence has to go....
- Girl Melanie... I must say that I was expecting to see her practicing this season. Yes, I agree that she should support Derwin in his new success but she could have a small private practice. I was hoping to see a power couple... maybe towards the end of the season
- Oh baby... Mel is starting trouble, trouble, trouble. I hope she get's it together. I agree that you shouldn't keep secrets in a marriage but Mel formally known as "Med School", should have made double, triple, and quadruple checked those results before sharing...
- I'm happy Tee Tee is maturing
- Meagan Good... I'm not too sure what I feel about this storyline yet.
- Ex-Basketball Wives... Ummm not a fan
- Brit Brat?! Umm I think they over played her character. She needs to be toned down. A LOT.
I will be tuning in next week!!

The Game!!
I am uber excited about the season premiere of The Game. I would personally like to thank BET for bringing it back to life. That last episode... I think when the credits started to roll, a few tears dropped from my eyes. I remember questioning, "How could they leave us hanging like that??!!?". So now here we are days away from the new season... I can't wait to see what everyone has been up too!!!
It will start two years after we have last seen them. Derwin is the star on the team!! So they have money now! Kelly has her own reality show... Mel and Derwin are married, the baby should be walking and talking... How will co-parenting go with Janay??? Will Mel finish Med school?? Will she lead the SunBeams? Will there be a new member of the SunBeams?? I know Meagan Good will be making a few appearances!!! Oh man this is going to be juicy!!
I have added a countdown to the right side of the page. It is set for every Tuesday at 10pm (EST)!!!
Let's Go Sabers!!

Xanga!!
Hey there!
Growing up I used to write in a journal/diary. Years would go by and I would stumble across it and read what I was up to at that particular time in my life. Welp... a few years have past and look what I've dug up... Xanga!! My online journal from freshmen year. Whoa momma! Its crazy to see how many things have changed and how many things are exactly the same...
I'm still trying to decide whether the changes and lack of change in certain areas are positive or negative.
I have come a long way tho... So I am proud of where I stand. I'm still a work in progress.

Movie Reviews
In the past few days I have had the pleasure of having some FREE TIME *happy dance* I used some of this time to catch up on some reading for class, doing homework and watching movies I've wanted to see, The King's Speech, The Book of Eli, and Little Fockers. The first two were good movies but Little Fockers was a WASTE of time. I'm not one of those people who tells you about a movie you haven't seen soo don't worry. But what I will say is this:
The King's Speech: This is a true story about King George VI (his family called him Bertie) and his struggle to get over his stutter. I liked this movie a LOT. Although going into the theater I knew the basic story that is taught in history class, the directors/actors did a great job of bringing this story to life without being boring and adding minor background details to make the royal family seem human to the viewers. There are moments in the film that are funny and moments where you can sympathize with B-b-bertie and is family. I would definitely go and see this movie again (matinee of course).
